Seminar: INSPIRE YOURSELF
The Malta Institution of Surveyors (MIoS), together with the Malta Association for Geographical Information (MAGI) and the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors – Malta (RICS Malta) are organising an INSPIRE Seminar on the EU Directive
The INSPIRE directive aims to bring together data and services through a Spatial Data Infrastructure. INSPIRE will impact the Geographic Information (GI) industry at all levels in all of the European Community. INSPIRE will affect everybody producing, using and sharing spatial data in Malta and Europe.
This one day event is intended to raise awareness of the Directive within the Maltese geographic information community. This will be the first public event that will engage all the Maltese stakeholders, providing a platform that will raise awareness of how implementation of the directive will impact and develop the GI industry.
The seminar will be held on 4th October 2007 at the Westin Dragonara Hotel Complex and will feature speakers from various European and Maltese bodies. Confirmed speakers at the event include MEP Mrs Frieda Brepoels, Mr Nick Land from Eurogeographics, Mr Henning Elmstrom from the Council of European Geodetic Surveyors, and a speaker (TBC) from the Joint Research Centre. Speakers from Maltese Parliament and the Maltese Legal Mandated Body responsible for implementing the Directive are also invited.
